The high performance variable speed pumps available today are engineered to operate at peak efficiency with minimal energy demand. They are designed to withstand the constant exposure, both to chemicals and the elements. These energy efficient variable speed pumps require minimal maintenance and actually become a return on investment over the course of their life. Due to the State of Arizona's Title 44 Law, pool owners are required by law to change their main pool pump to a variable speed, energy efficient pump if and when the existing main filter pump fails and needs replacement. This in itself grants merit to the effect these energy efficient pool pump creates.

The savings in pool pumps are attained when you install high horsepower pool pumps, such as Pentair's Intelliflow 3HP energy efficient pool pump. This is designed to run in "high speed" cleaning mode for a few hours and then wind down to "low speed" filtration mode. The low speed setting operates at 1/8 the power consumption of a standard single speed pump. That is where the saving are. The issue with some remodeling companies is they sell low budget variable speed pumps that are not "high horse". These pumps run max speed most the time to keep up with their lack of horse costing you not only by monthly power bills, but the louder sound the pump makes when running on "high speed"

The propane heaters and natural gas heaters are the most common for pool and spas. These heat up the pool and spas quicker than the electric heat pump or solar heater options.
